Let it be known: Fridays will now feature arts and culture.
Today’s highlight is the movie Genghis Blues (1999), a documentary by Roko Belic featuring San Francisco native Paul Pena. Not to give the movie away, but Paul, a blues singer, taught himself Tuvan throat signing after hearing it on the radio, and goes to Tuva to perform in a festival. In addition to incredible singing (two notes at once!) there are also a lot of good yurt shots.
The film was nominated for an Oscar and won a bunch of awards–so don’t just take it from me.
